Easy ways to save money

A new year can see a fresh start for many things – including getting on top of our finances. Thankfully, saving up doesn’t have to be as tough as we once thought. In fact, there are some easy ways to save money that could see you rolling in it in no time. It’s all about finding ways to cut back on those pennies and put them somewhere safe instead.

Stay away from the TV

While turning off the TV will help to cut down on the electricity bill, it can also help you save money in other departments, too. In fact, it’s shown that avoiding the TV also means we won’t be around as many commercials and therefore less inclined to spend money. Plus, opting for a streaming service rather than a cable plan could help to save you a ton of money every month while you still have access to a huge range of shows and movies at your fingertips.

Make a deal with yourself

If you want to put money aside for a rainy day or have a grand purchase in mind, then it could be time to make a deal with yourself. The chances are that you wouldn’t want to bargain when you will pay your rent or cover the cost of gas, so why should you be ready to let yourself down? Agreeing to put away a certain amount each month – one that you should be able to afford with every paycheck – can soon see you with a tidy amount in savings.

Wait 30 days

Some things we need to buy there and then. Others? They can be impulse buys that we might not actually need after all. If there is something that you want, but don’t immediately need, then try waiting 30 days to see if you still want it in your life. If you do, and you have the money to cover the costs, then reward your patience! If the urge has passed, then you could have just easily saved yourself some money.

Stick to a list

They say that one of the worst things you can do is go food shopping when you are hungry as you end up buying whatever your cravings want at the time, and not the things that you need. The same goes for heading into the store without a list. Wandering up and down the aisles means you’ll probably grab things that you don’t need just because they are there and look good at the time. Having a list means you’ll have a plan of what you need to get. Now, all you need to do is stick to it.

Sometimes, it can feel as though saving money os next to impossible. However, it doesn’t take long for a few small changes to become part of our every day lives. Before we know it, we could have more money than we ever imagined just by cutting back on costs and putting some aside. And who said adulting had to be hard?
