Mrs. Garrett was the woman that the show revolved on. She made the move from the big city to the country to become the caretaker for a group of young girls at a preparatory school. Mrs. Garrett had a change of roles throughout the seasons. In the first season, she was just the caretaker but as the show progressed, she became the school’s dietician and the owner of Edna’s Edibles. However, Mrs. Garrett was much more than an employee at the school. She was the glue that held the girls together and they often came to her for advice.
