The incredibly extra fashion you can expect at Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding

If you’ve been keeping up to date with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as closely as you keep up with the Kardashians, you’ll know that the whole world is currently stuck on one talking channel: the royal wedding! With just a few days left before the loved-up couple tie the knot, people around the globe are finding themselves overwhelmed with questions. What is Meghan going to wear? Who will be the bridesmaids? Will Prince Harry cry? Which street party am I going to attend? More than anything, we can’t wait to see the incredibly extra fashion we can expect from the day…

It’s time for the mad hatters

When it comes to royal weddings, there are certain rules and regulations to uphold – which means you can’t just take a trip to Target and buy a dress off the rack. As a sign of respect, female guests are required to either wear a hat or a fascinator. Yet, as we saw with William and Kate’s wedding, these hats come in all shapes and sizes. Quite literally. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie turned up looking like characters from Cinderella, Queen Elizabeth became the yellow queen in her giant top hat, and the guests all looked spectacularly bonkers. We can expect the same thing for Harry and Megs.

The military theme

Over the years, the military theme has become a huge trend in the fashion world. Giant buttons have been sewn onto skirts and jackets, badges have been ironed onto denim coats, and royal colors have been the color pallet of choice. However, it’s not quite the same when it comes to the royal wedding. Guests of the royals who have a military background are required to wear their uniforms to the big day. Their boots will be polished, their medals will be shining, and their clothes will be looking as starched as ever.

The kids in question

No royal wedding would be complete without a group of adorable page boys and flower girls who have been forced to wear horrific outfits they would never wear in real life. When Prince Edward and Sophie tied the knot, the children had to wear red velvet capes and feathered hats, and for Prince William and Kate’s wedding, the page boys had to wear peter-pan style shirts, complete with khaki shorts and white socks. It was quite a look! So, this makes us wonder what the kids this year will be wearing?

It’s all about the dress

Although Meghan Markle has not announced the designer of her wedding just yet, it’s rumored that she’s already shown Queen Lizzie the dress for approval (yes, she has to get it approved!). In the past, the royal wedding dresses have been chic and elegant and been laden with lace and embellishments that are truly fit for a princess. However, many experts suggest that Meghan has a bit more free reign when it comes to her dress. As Prince Harry is not in line to become King any time soon, the pair are supposedly less important than Kate and Wills. This means she can be more eclectic and extravagant with her dress choice. Will it be bright pink? Covered in feathers? Made out of latex? Well, we actually have no idea, but judging by Meghan’s own personal style, we can imagine it will be as fashionable as ever.

If you’re getting ready to watch the royal wedding, you’re probably just as interested in the fashion as you are the actual event. Well, you better keep your eyes peeled, because we have a feeling Meghan and Harry’s wedding is going to be extra…
